So today I am sitting on my couch enjoying a bowl of chocolate mini wheats

My laptop is in front of me, not too close, because I'm reading an article but keeping distance from my food

Out of literally nowhere, my spoon shoots a drop of milk onto the bottom right corner of my trackpad. No joke, I have no idea what happened. Its like a ghost somehow made my spoon fling the milk.

Anyway, the milk drop was about the size of a nickel-quarter, and I dabbed it up with my sweater. It landed right on the bottom right corner, so I'm worried some could have seeped into the crack.

Should I be worried? I am so OCD about my MBP and this is very upsetting! I need to watch my involuntary movements with food apparently.

There's no way to tell. If you wanted to be safe you could shut your computer down for a few days and let it dry.

k, follow my instructions very very carefully

line your face up with the corner of the trackpad

    approach and open your mouth

    start sucking the trackpad!!!!

you should be able to get all of the milk out

you know this is actually a pretty good idea, i should have done it right when it happened and it would have been pretty effective

I just hope if I run into issues that this won't void the extended Apple Care I bought

I tried to look and see what was under the trackpad in youtube videos, and it looks like just the battery is there so hopefully that isn't too big an issue

    Has this happened to anyone?

Thanks, this is pretty much what I hoped to get out of the thread, people telling me not to worry about it. I tell myself not to worry but it just doesn't have the same effect and I just end up worrying more

    That's what I knew :D - Just kiddin'..

Enjoy your MBP and don't eat near it (although I've done that several times and loads of stuff entering the keyboard, but never had a problem with it..)

    Best solution, I agree :D

    ----------

Stop worrying, if you still have some money to get a new one.

    ----------

I doubt you listed all the things you sucked.

    Unnecessary & rude insult?!

Anyway, here is a schematic that lists the submersion sensors of the MBP. Looks like you should not run into problems, even if something went inside. It would be a tiny amount anyway and probably dried up very fast.

mape2K THANK YOU this gave me such peace of mind

they are so good, i like to fool people into thinking i eat healthy with mini wheats but these are so packed with chocolate and sugar that they are actually good (they get soggy really quickly though so you have to be a fast eater)

Probably how you splashed the milk ;) Next time keep a straw handy. You can isolate your sucking that way. I think you are going to be fine as long as you keep the ants away from the dried up sugar milk.

I'd be more worried about the ghost than the corner of my trackpad.

This thread amused me but, actually, I had one of the very first white MacBooks some years ago and spilled the tiniest few drips of wine on it, near the power button. It killed it COMPLETELY. Luckily I was able to claim on our home contents insurance.

Cannot explain this? With all due respect, if you don't know what you're talking about, be quiet.
