Thunderbolt also supports Minidisplay port, so an iMac from 2010 with Minidisplay port would work with a new Thunderbolt Dsiplay, right

As far as we know at this point, no.
I'm assuming the video would output fine, but you wouldn't be able to use the ports built into the display.
I wouldn't assume that. Apple's web page specifies only the current TB-equipped Macs as compatible. Doesn't at all state the non-TB Macs can use it as a display only.
Until someone can actually try it, I would NOT assume it'll work on anything but a TB-equipped Mac.
As of now, Apple STILL sells the non-TB 27" Cinema display, BTW.
