You take a huge hit, SS doesn’t provide a significant premium when trading in. For example, my SS S4 is only worth $100 via Apple’s trade-in.How much difference same series SS watch has over aluminum watch in term of trading value?

I sold my stainless steel series 4 for $220 on swappa right before the S7 keynote. You take a huge hit, SS doesn’t provide a significant premium when trading in. For example, my SS S4 is only worth $100 via Apple’s trade-in.
that’s exactly how much my aluminum S4 cellular worth.
Welp. Then there’s NO premium. ☠️that’s exactly how much my aluminum S4 cellular worth.
Anyone looking for improved battery life from the S4 to the S7 will probably not see it.
Battery life has been improved but only by adding features that tax it more, yet keeping the amount of daily use hours the same.
You get the "always-on display" that I think started with Series 5. Series 6 brought an even brighter display for sunlight viewing. Series 7 now has a 70% brighter "always-on" rest mode.
So, more features but battery life remains about the same as the S4.
A 3 years old S4 which has seen moderate to heavy use won’t have the same battery life today it used to have 3 years ago. From that perspective a brand new S7 will improve battery life (not compared to what a brand new S4 would have offered 3 years ago, but compared to what a tired S4 is offering today).
My S4 used to be around 50% battery after a night’s sleep and a full day of use, but it is now closer to 20% (and I don’t do anything different). Part of this is that the battery health has dropped (it is now 84%), but I also think that as a model gets older Apple gets less careful with battery optimisations for that model in every major iOS release.
I love the always on displayWith the faster processor AirPods connect quicker and Siri also responds faster.
Also, I went back to my old Series 4 cuz I just sold my Series 6 and I hate seeing the formless black void that is the black rectangle. I can no longer use a series 4. I hate not seeing the time when I look down.
There won't be a redesign next year. There was a redesign this year.I am wondering the same thing, and will most likely be ordering the Series 7 45mm this weekend. I figure if there is a complete redesign next year, I'll just take the loss and trade up again.
My assumption of another redesign next year came from the photos floating around of an alleged Apple Watch with more squared off corners, similar to the iPhone design. There won't be a redesign next year. There was a redesign this year.
Similar to how the X, XS and 11 Pro all shared near identical designs, I think this approach will also been applied to the 12, 13 and next year's iPhone. The same can be said about the S0, S1/S2, S3 watches all being the same with the redesign coming in the S4. Apple has moved to roughly a 3 year period for designing their mobile devices.
I wear on my left hand as well. Move the watch crown so that it is facing toward your body. That way, if your wrist flexes, it won’t trigger a setting on the watch.I'm going from a Series 4 to the 7, and even gambling the 45mm will fit my wrist. I too would like a bigger screen.
My Series 4 is 44mm, and its case is pretty close to my left hand's wrist joint/bump. I may have to move my newer/larger watch to my right hand, after all these years of being left hand centricOh the sacrifices I make for Steve and Tim

I get it. I was thinking the same. I think that's Apple trying to weed out the leakers. My assumption of another redesign next year came from the photos floating around of an alleged Apple Watch with more squared off corners, similar to the iPhone design.
Tbh they need to have better trade in value, $100 for SS series 4 44mm? This thing was $650+ 2 years ago

You will love Steel and the best part: The saphire crystal!xfI will now also switch from the S4 to the S7. I just want to finally have an always on display.
I'm also switching from aluminum to SS now.
Yup, SS counts for **** when trading in or even selling online. You take a huge hit, SS doesn’t provide a significant premium when trading in. For example, my SS S4 is only worth $100 via Apple’s trade-in.
LOL. Sounds like something my wife would say… save money by spending it. 😇Apple's trade-in value on the Series 6 Stainless Steel was $270.
So, I would expect that's the best you are going to get for it as, remarkably, third-party sellers came in under that.
I trade my SS in every year and have done so for the past several releases. I try to optimize upon the $270 trade-in value so I am paying approx. $550 for the watch (with taxes).
Is it the smartest thing to do? No.
