With new rumours of USB type-C coming to iphone 8. Will we see the same in march or whenever the new ipads are out?

would make sense to carry on with the macbook pro moving to USB Type-C.

I would certainly welcome fast charge on the ipad.

iPads usually follow suit to the iPhones, my guess it will happen if the iPhones make the switch.

If USB-C does happen, it would be the iPhone first over the iPad/MacBook.

iPad Pro 12.9 got USB 3 before iPhone, fwiw

Rant: I don't know how this is even a question so many years after USB 3.0 was released... maddening. Syncing, restoring, or backing up a 128GB iPhone 6s is indeed magical, Mr. Cook.

i dont think they will remove the lightning port, but the lightning cable and the charger. I mean they will change the lightning to lightning cable to lightning-usb-c

It is magical, it's called "wireless".

I can't wait until they remove the port completely. Put the 20th century to rest.

I think it would be a great idea. One port for everything. I use these ports now exclusively on laptops and I like them.

Will they do it? Who knows. We will have to gauge the rumors. After all, we are rumor experts :D

Kuo predicts 2017 iPhones are going to support USB-C fast charging while retaining the Lightning port. Just like the 12.9 iPP methinks. I imagine that means the 2017 iPads are also going to get fast charging. The iPhones and iPads may or may not adopt USB 3.0 data transfer like the 12.9 iPP has. In any case, with Lightning being able to handle 2 of the 3 USB-C functions (fast charging and fast data transfer; the 3rd function being video transport which I don't believe are in Apple's near term plans for any of their iOS devices), all without having to use USB-C's non-proprietary and slightly bigger port, I don't see USB-C ports ever coming to iOS devices. Unless maybe Apple starts designing iPads to be used as or with external displays.

Exactly. Apple should just forget any usb-c/d/f/g/lightning etc. holes and go simply...WIRELESS!

Wires on a any mobile device belong to the last millennium - it is as simple as that.

You do know that the MacBooks already have type c right?
And Apple being Apple effectively created another reason to spend more money if you want to connect your phone to the new MacBook. Apple is always on the look out for ways to make the consumer spend more money. I am positive they will keep the lightning port.
