iOS5 will be at WWDC, just like every company out there you ration out the new stuff, if you show it all at one event you have nothing to talk about the rest of the year

Now I have to decide if these "October" rumors are true.

If they are, I might wait.

If they're not and the next one is gonna be in 2012...well then this is a very nice upgrade for a whole year and I'll probably jump in now.

Hmmm...

And how are you going to know if the October rumors are true? Consult your Ouija board, or maybe your Magic 8 Ball?;)

I am certain we'll get iOS 5 for the iPad this summer. So a nice little hardware upgrade now and a nice little software upgrade in the summer...it works out to one super-fine upgrade over the course of the year.
Agreed, but I was hoping for a preview today :)

Who knows, but I'd guess they aren't true.

This morning I was 50/50.

By now I'm starting to agree with you.

Everything they present is giving me more and more of a feeling.

I think I'll be ordering one of these. (I don't own an iPad, btw. Not sure how current owners will feel about this upgrade.)

By October people will have increased their demands even more and then will come around here and sneer that they're waiting for iPad 4. It's all rubbish.

Also this is a pretty big update ( baww notifications ) so to expect another big update in October is foolish; nothing like a rumors forum generating and then believing its own rumors.

Plus if rumors are true, availability will be limited until production catches up.

Its a tough decision. The only thing that would get my attention is a thinner design and the iPad 2 is thinner than I thought it would be. Still debating on what I'm going to do.

the decision should be simple, if you need a tablet and this one meets your needs then get it. they will have some sort of upgrade every year, you'll never get one if you keep thinking about what is missing. there are no contracts on these things so sell it next year and buy another if you like the one next year more

iPad 3 will be the 7 inch to be released in Q3 2011. I've posted this before.

Don't be too surprised.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out :D. From the mouth of Steve himself "We think 2011 is clearly the year of iPad 2."

Do you want him to say "...and an upcoming iPad 3"? :p

Or "We think 2011 is clearly the year for 2 iPads...":rolleyes:

Oh man, that speaker grill is UGLY!!! I was wishing the rumor photos weren't real, I guess they are now. :(

UPDATE: Got a better look at it and it's not as bad as the leaked photos.

Im glad I did buy the first gen iPad when it came out ...and did not wait for the 2nd gen one because it was a new unproved product. Ive had a whole year of using it and am more then happy about my 1st gen iPad performance. :)

Now about the iPad 2 ... Being the owner of the iPad 1 ... I am left unimpressed
with the specs:

Cheap back Camera, same as ipod touch

No mention of RAM ( I guess its 512 mb ... I can still live with my 256 mb of RAM from my 1st gen I guess)

No new screen, no Retina OR no new screen that helps in direct sunlight ... wich for me is a must have.

No Thunderbolt

No SD card reader

Weight is down from 1.5 lb ..... to 1.3 lb .... I guess I wouldn't notice that much ...

Same battery life as 1st gen ...

The new Dual Core A5 ... will take a while for DEVs to really make apps shine with that Dual Core, and by that time when they DO make apps that take the Power of the A5 .. and makes the A4 really obsolete .. the iPad 3 will be right around the corner and by then Multi Cores will be the standard.

Nope ... Not upgrading my iPad 1st gen, Will wait until it really does feel like a MAJOR overall change, this is only a minor speed bump ... AKA iPad 1S ;)
