    I am looking to purchase the wester elite protable harddrive seen here

    http://www.costco.ca/Browse/Product..._Price|1||P_SignDesc1&lang=en-CA&Sp=C&topnav=

    On this website it says that the min requriemesnts are windows or mac. However on the actulal WD site it states that it is not formatted for a mac.

    Does anyone know if this harddive will work on the new 13inch mbp- does anyone have any personal experience using one? Will it have any compatablity issues.

    thanks

    It should be fine. I have a similar one. If not, reformat it to an acceptable file storage type.

    EDIT: Costco does a no questions asked thing on returns with electronics anyway.

    It is default formatted for FAT32 which will work fine but no single file can be over 4gb in size, unless you format it for hfs+

    They work beautifully.

    We have 3 of them in 250GB and one in 500GB.

    They come formatted in FAT32, a Windows format but even with that they work on Macs.

    You could always do as we did, reformat them in HFS (journaled) using Disk Utility.

    Just make sure you are doing it to the correct drive.

    EDIT: If you do not need the Elite Model ... .Best Buy has the 500GB Essential Model ( USB2.0 ) for only $119.00

    They have the Elite for $159
