My sister's current 32GB 5S is starting to show its age and I'm looking to purchase her a new phone this year. As nice as the 7 is, it is too big for her hands, and she is quite adamant about getting only a 4" phone.

The SE would be nice for her, but I'd like to a 128GB model to get her, as she does store a good amount of docs, photos, music, videos on it.

It's very possible we could see a 128 GB when the SE is hopefully refreshed in 2018. Most seemed to think Apple wouldn't release a 256 Gb model iPhone and sure enough they did.

Nope, I don't think we will in the 5/5s/SE body. So no time soon since I don't think we'd see a smaller screen option again until September at the soonest.

While it's not impossible, I don't think they'll do a 4" this year. I'd think they are focusing a lot on a new design and it'll likely only come in two sizes. Would be nice if I'm wrong but even if I am, the third model might be even bigger than the 5.5".

I would like to see a 4", 5", 6" and have them be made equally with the same features. That's definitely not possible but I can dream right?

Of course, there's always a possibility they can do 32GB and 128GB versions of a 4" iPhone. They might not be very good, but it can happen.

The SE was made as a concession. Odds are unlikely that there will ever be a SE2.

What may happen is if they release a ip8 with no bezels this year...then maybe in 2018 Apple releases a phone similar in size to the 4" with no bezels then.

Maybe updated also with force-touch and other goodies that the SE currently lacks. That would be the ideal solution.

is downgrading back to 9.3.5 still an option? I wouldn't do ios 10 on a 5s... or else just get her 2 SE's 64gb...

Downgrading a phone hasn't been possible for a number of years now.

Always asked, but never a reality.

Only time you could downgrade legitimately was when Apple co-signed the prior iOS along with the new one. Which is a brief window and only transitory.

It's true. Apple is a real reactionary company these days they know lots of people liked iPhone for its small size.

Not really any popular small androids that have latest-ish internals

Hopefully there is a 2018 4" but I wouldn't bank on anything happening this year whatsoever. I.e. No SE gen2

Nobody needs a 4" phone anymore. I think the SE won't ever be updated again.

Really? :(. I have several big phones, including iPhone 7, galaxy mote5, s7 edge, LG G4, etc... yet I use my newest phone(free VZW iPhone SE 64gb) the most!

I was really surprised when Apple announced it. I could never deal with a 4" screen again but there are no other cell phone makers that give the choice of Apple.

I think it will depend on how well sales of the current SE went. If there is money to be made without cannibalizing their flagships, I wouldn't be surprised to see more capacity. Not sure why, but I kind of expect no SE refresh until the next falgships, and then seeing a 4" 4.x" and 5.x"

I got the iPhone SE and the iPhone 7 within weeks of each other. Honestly, I only got them because they were $0 and $49 with 2-year contracts and I had to renew my contracts to safeguard my unlimited data plans. Didn't really need new phones. After a few months, the iPhone 7 is rarely used, while the iPhone SE is used almost daily. It is so nice to be able to do 99% of the thins on a phone with just ONE HAND! :) (on the toilet, during meals, on the plane, walking around, even while talking on a landline phone)

I don't think so, if we were to see a 4 inch model some leaks or rumors should have dropped by now, I haven't heard any rumors or leaks, maybe next year.

Speak for yourself.

If the SE were updated, I would consider buying it.

I do appreciate Apple releasing a 4 inch iPhone. We are in a tech world where everything is large in display and the "Pocket" phone days are primarily behind us.

Give 4.7" phone a try, is time to move on, probably soon no more 4" as possible SE is the last to appear as sales of SE is not very good.

Like I said earlier... I bought the iPhone 7 and iPhone SE in the same month. I now use the SE 90% of the time and only use the 7 10% of the time. One-hand operation is just marvelous. (all my other phones are either 5.5-inch or 5.7-inch)

You cannot bought both and use both as you already get use to small screen thus in your brain keep want small phone and not reliase the good of bigger screen size phone.

Only get one of the bigger screen size phone and use it for a month, then you will know it is better to have bigger screen size phone.

One hand operation is history and during drive car is totally shall not using phone.

I love how some people downplay the usefulness of one-handed phone capability...keep deluding yourself.

It's fun to see you do that.

I all the while using both hand, never using one hand and never appreciate using one hand. I rather prefer everything to be seen in clear than tiny.

When on emergency or not applicable to use both hand, they is never an issue for me using one hand to operate it, most of the time I only use one hand during calling. My biggest phone ever buy is 6.44" Sony Xperia Z Ultra also no issue using one hand when making call.

Others usage from internet, photo taking, chatting, gaming, both hand is much preferable than one hand.
