I'm thinking maybe not but seeing as it' available on the iPad what are the chances?

would be looking at £1,700 at the very least though price wise which is nuts for a phone

Phone storage size will continue to grow with file sizes on phone. Increased camera resolution = larger files as an example. Anyone’s guess is as good as the next person as to when. I’d bet next iteration or two phones will be bumped to 1tb to live up to the “pro” mantra.

Probably in the next couple of years. iPad has the higher storage option first.

I’m pretty sure the next iPhone, or at most the iPhone released after that will come with a 1TB option.

If they think there's a market that will pay £1,799 for it could quite easily happen next year. I don't think there's any technological reason it can't (space on the logic board for requisite number of chips?). Ultimately it depends on if the number of people that will buy it at the price they charge meaningfully exceeds what it will cost to design and produce. Assuming the sums don't add up currently, I would still expect to see a general move up to 128/512/1TB at some point (upon the introduction of 8K video?).

As a related aside, I wonder if they will go straight from 512 to 1,024GB or if there will be a 768GB model as the top storage capacity for a while?

Imagine Apple offering 1TB iPhone next to 256GB 15" MacBook 'Pro' ... What a joke.
I would think form factor and portability would come into play quite a bit there. Yes the MBP is a portable computer, but it's difficult to use a laptop effectively while walking.

To tell you how old and long been in the computer business - many years ago I was on a tour at an IBM disk plant and the person in charge told me that they might make a 150 MB drive some day (and those were washing machine size drives) but never larger. I would say some day people will laugh at only 1TB drive on a phone.

Photography seems to be the real driver here, and everyone wants the best camera and video experience from their phone so there's little reason this won't continue. Consider 64GB is already tight if you're using 4K60 video and live photos, by the time we get to 8K120/144 and 16-20MP photos with higher quality live videos even 256 is probably going to feel base.
