I charge my iPhone 12 Pro Max wirelessly with an Apple Magsafe and an Apple 20W charger.

To my question, I saw this morning that Battery health had dropped from 100% to 99% after a six months of use. Is this normal or could it be due to the wireless charging?

Can mention that the iPhone does not get hot during charging. Can I continue charging wirelessly or should I use a charging cable instead?

No. I have wireless charging pad at work, this helps me top up my iPhone 12 and iPhone SE 2 during work. No problem.

But I do prefer wire charging, simply because of fast charging capabilities.

If you are this worried about battery health. The Safest way to do is using 5W charger. This will take you 3-4 hours to complete charging. But I don’t have patience 5W charger.

I don’t care about battery health whatsoever. If in 2 years battery need to be replace, I hop on Amazon order cheap battery and do by myself. I did for my iPhone XR, iPhone 7 and iPhone 8

With the iOS battery chemistry, wireless charging should have little to no affect on battery health. I exclusively wireless charge my 11 Pro Max since launch and it is still at 100% battery health even after a year.

100% to 99% after six months is normal.

On the theory that slower charging is better than faster charging, wireless would be better than connecting the iPhone directly to the 20w charger, as MagSafe charges at 15w. (MagSafe is faster than Qi charging, which is 5w.) That said, Apple keeps refining the charging process in order to reduce battery wear such as pausing charging at 80%, waiting to complete charging to 100% until about an hour before you typically disconnect from charger.

Wireless charging is safe for the iPhone. Only problem is the heat generated. Too much heat may cause problem.

Tbh if you’re using the regular Qi charging which is 7.5 watts and even the MagSafe which is 15 watts it’s not fast charging your device like the USB type 6 18 watts is so theoretically it’s better I would think ?

Isn’t regular Qi max at 7.5 watts ?

I attach the 5W Apple charger brick to my anker powerwave qi pad for slow daily overnight charging. After 18 months my iPhone 11 is down to 90% battery health (SOT down from 8 hours to 6 hours) as a reference. The other 2 iPhone 11’s bought at the same time plug in to charge with wired 5W and are at 93% health

That’s still comparing an apple to an orange. Unless you used the phone the same way in the same conditions and charged at the same time that’s not really an Apple to Apple comparison. Your phone does get hotter charging wireless and if you live somewhere really hot it will have an effect. To put in respective I am a heavy user and my iPhone 11 Pro battery was at 84% and I usually just use the fast charger or a 7.5watt wireless charger at night to charge my phone. I have Apple care plus and paying monthly so for me battery health isn’t an issue. I’ll just get a new one for free when it goes below 80%. Still 90% after 1.5 years is great especially when Apple suggests you should be at 80% in 2 years

My Anker Powerwave wireless charging stand is 7.5w and it's considered quick charge 3.0

I been using a Belkin mat that has a place for my AirPods and watch along with my phone which I got for free to review when I had my 11 pro and just been using that. Was advertised as 7.5 watts. Ngl considering the same thing but has MagSafe for the new phone looks so much sleeker.

I really hope the OP doesn't take this personally but it dropped from 100 to 99 percent in 6 months? Geez! At this rate the battery may end up working just fine for the next 50 years! I bet you get several new phones in far less time than that.

Why do people care so much about battery health in these phones? I'd say that on the average people keep their phones for 2 or 3 years.

1) A lot of people resell their phone every year to offset the cost of upgrading
2) Many new members start out normal and then after reading the phone forums for a month a month or 2, many of them develop iPhone Battery Anxiety
3) Some people are looking to confirm or deny information they have read elsewhere on the internet
4) Some people are new to Apple and iPhone and are genuinely looking for practical guidance in keeping their phone in good working order

I’ve had my 12PM for about 4 months now exclusively using the MagSafe charger. My battery health still shows 100%.
