I'm happy, would do it again

My non-retina iMac is more than capable enough for my needs. When the day comes that I have to replace it, I'll obviously base my decision on what's available at the time. If I needed to make that decision today I'd get another maxed non-retina 27" iMac because I like it a lot.

I like my 11" MBA a lot too. Different computer fits different needs. :)

Another iMac in my future? Well, back in 2013 I swore never to buy another all-in-one desktop computer again after my 2012 model iMac had given nothing but grief, eventually requiring a new motherboard. While AppleCare covered that, I was without computer for three weeks, being limited to using my iPad.

But then... came the 5K Retina iMac, and the rest is history as they say.:D

I recently bought a 5k iMac. It was the best fit for my needs (and wants).
I don't think I will be upgrading anytime soon, but whenever that time comes, I will check again which of the available products works best for me.

Of course we all want the powerful, affordable, infinitely upgradable, quiet, compact and elegant solution. In practice this doesn't exist in the Apple universe, and even outside I think it would be hard to find.

As far as Apple desktops are concerned, the iMac works nicely where the Mac Mini is not powerful enough and the Mac Pro is too expensive. The fact that the whole system runs with just a single cable plugged into the wall is an added bonus.
This time I didn't consider a laptop. After using laptops almost exclusively for the last 7 years, I finally wanted something that allows me to sit straight and at a reasonable distance from the screen. And I didn't want the clutter of laptop + docking station + external screen.

TL/DR: Yes, I would buy again, if it is the product that fits my needs best.

The best thing about iMacs are that they are silent. I don't know if tower PC's are that silent.

The Mac Mini is also, and the great thing about it is that you can use it as a HTPC whenever you buy a new one or any other computer. It's also really small, so you can put it away until you find a new use for it, but what do you do with an iMac when it's old and you buy a new one? It takes too much space and you can't turn it into a HTPC, server, etc. It's not that comfortable.
