I am thinking of moving to iPhone 15 Plus. Less weight, similar long battery life, big display, why not?

I’m wanting to go to a larger phone, and I am struggling with pro vs plus. I currently have a 14 pro, but if I went plus, the weight would actually go down a little, while I’d still get the larger display. Of course it wouldn’t go up as much getting the pro max as it would have last year.

The only reason I even choose a Max was the battery life. But honestly I should have just went with the Plus for ONLY the battery life. Also the weight on the Plus is significant less imo. So yeah I’ll not choose a Max ever again unless it gets the same weight as the current Plus line up.

The pro max this year shows a longer battery life than the plus, but honestly, IDK if that matters enough for me to go pro max over plus. There are some other benefits, none of which probably make a huge difference in how I use the phone, but I don‘t want to regret it either way.

As far as I know they also said according to apple that the 14 Plus had a worse battery life then 14 Max but from what I read and saw on YouTube they are about the same batterywise in real life use

I’m going with the 15 Pro. It’s gonna be lighter than my current iPhone 13 Pro. Combine that with rounded off edges and smaller width, it’s going to feel amazing in the hand. 6.1” is big enough for me. I like being able to use 1 hand COMFORTABLY. The Max is a 2 hand phone and I find that annoying AF at times. Never mind it feels like a brick in my shorts.

Definitely. I went big with 6S+ and I’ll never go back. If Pro Max goes bigger I’ll go for that too. This size doesn’t bother me at all, in fact I love it.

I wavered, but stuck with the smaller Pro in the end. I've got a 27" screen on my desk for computing, an iPad Mini 6 for casual stuff 'downstairs' in the house & the iPhone is for everything else. Battery life is a non-issue these days & the 5x telephoto I'd use only occasionally doesn't swing the penalty of lugging the extra weight all of the rest of the time.

Looking forward to Friday & hope you're all happy with your choices - if they'd said there's only going to be one model this year then I'd have been okay with any of them in reality.

Yes, I did. I love the size, extra functionalities and superb displays. Unless I have to, I will keep choosing pro max despite the weight. Hopefully, Apple can make pro max lighter and lighter ;)

I preordered my 15PM on Friday, with a delivery date of 9/22. As long as Apple continue selling the Pro Max, I’ll continue to upgrade to them.

I currently have a 14PM. Love the color, don't love that it's heavy. I'm going with a 15P, smaller size means I can one-hand it easily as well as enjoy a lighter phone with the titanium. I usually alternate between upgrade cycles so if the 16PM is light, I'll reconsider the bigger phone.

If it has the best battery, I would go back to it

The 11pro max had a great one

Owned iPhone 14 Pro Max from April 2023 to June 2024 but switched to iPhone 13 Pro June 2024 onward...

Even though it has physically smaller and lower battery capacity, I'll keep using it until I find something interesting to upgrade to in a future iPhone model...

I always had the Pro models... for a very short while I was using Android (S20 Ultra) which was huge for me and my first phone in that size... but I missed Apple so I was going back to 13 Pro which had an awful battery life but had the perfect size. So I got the 14 Max instead which was a brick.. happily switched to 15 Plus because it was much lighter... but I miss the small size sooo much. So I got the 16 Pro now and reaaally hope that the battery life is fine. But yeah, I personally would never get a Max again, its just uncomfortable for my small hands and I miss using phone with one hand.

I’m on iPhone 14 Pro Max and exactly did the same calculations with battery life.

As per Apple’s official numbers there’s only 2 hours difference in battery life between the 16 Pro and 14 Pro Max.

My 14 Pro Max is at 84% battery capacity right now and I’m doing fine with it so with the 16 Pro as well I’ll basically be fine for at least the next couple of years unless Apple does something groundbreaking with the 17 series, in which case I’ll just upgrade.

Nope.

The slightly bigger size of Pro Max doesn’t really add much benefit, but it does add a lot of bulk and handling issues.

I’ve had the 13 Pro Max since launch (almost 3 years), and I’ve always struggled with the bulky size and using it one-handed ,and I’m not even a small guy.

Honestly, the benefits of the Pro Max are way overrated. Maybe just the extra battery or the occasional better camera feature (like the extra zoom on the 15 Pro Max), but that’s no longer the case.
Some people say the bigger screen is better for watching/reading stuff, but even the Pro Max is still too small for reading comfortably or watching a movie (who watches a full movie on their phone anyway?)

So, I’m going for the 16 Pro. Just trying to decide on the color and whether I want 256GB or 128GB.

Exactly my thoughts this year with the Pro Max and that’s why choosing to go with the 16 Pro.

I literally never watch any content on my phone or even read on it. On flights I either take my iPad if I am taking a short flight without any inbuilt screen or just listen to podcasts on my phone.

For peaceful reading I have my Kindle!

Go with the 256GB if you’re already close to filling up the 128GB on your previous device. Just a 100 extra for double the storage. Especially since you seem to keep the devices for long periods.

Exactly the same for me.
Going from 14+ to 16 Pro.

Already have a 2nd phone from work: 14PM and that's enough weight to heft around all day along with my personal phone.

Xs Max -> 11 Pro Max -> 12 Pro Max -> 13 Pro Max -> 14 Pro Max -> 15 Pro Max -> 16 Pro

I think they've finally lost me with the dimension increases of the Pro Max. If the smaller Pro didn't have feature parity with its larger sibling then I still probably would've gone larger, but luckily they have the same features (other than battery life and screen size) this year. The 15 Pro Max was already so large and unwieldy and they've made it even bigger.

I'm on iUP so if I really don't like it I can just switch back next year. I think the smaller size will be refreshing, though. We'll see!
