Have been with iPhones since 2018, always thought AC+ was a scam. You're paying for a "what if" every month, then there's still the deductible. A good case and screen protector (which I've never used) are good enough insurance.

The amount I've seen people spend on AC+ for years to maybe use it once...they're getting played. Phones depreciate too.
Thanks for the reply, I have only ever got it once for Beats Headphones however I upgrade every year and people seem to be damaging their iPhones very easy from little drops and as I trade in every year would like to keep mine pristine to avoid any trade in issues.

I'm probably the wrong person to ask about this because the Apple trade in is a scam to me as well. You only get $670 for a 16 Pro Max from Apple, and that's at any storage size. A 256gb 16 Pro Max can fetch you $900 selling it privately, which isn't that hard. Takes a few minutes of your time to list it.

oh I am in the UK so I get that for the 256gb storage.

Just out of curiosity; I was wondering what the ratio is of people adding Apple Care+ and not adding it and also whether theft and loss is added :)

Also, how often have you actually used Apple Care+ in the past and do you think it's worth it?

I will definitely be adding Apple Care+, somehow it doesn't show the theft and loss option in The Netherlands so that might not be available in all countries I guess.
Nope, I just throw it into my insurance policy that includes my home and my cars.
They are very quick to simply replace the whole device if there are any issues.

I’ve had my 17PM since launch, and yes I will still continue to pay for AppleCare+ Theft and Loss. I still use a screen protector, clear sticker on the camera plateau and a glass protector on the MagSafe square on the back, since I use my phone caseless. I have 0 scratches and blemishes on my phone.

Really - never heard of that before. Interesting. My deductible is $5k, so would not even qualify and would not want to claim it even if I could as maybe would make insurance go up, unless I am missing something.

My wife doesn't have it on her 17 Pro and neither have I on my 16 Pro Max and our childrens iPhones, iPads and Apple Watches.

We have things like that covered on our home insurance and on our banking. Only replaced one iPhone in 15 years due to my wife slamming it in a car door. Went through the insurance and it was straightforward. AppleCare is very expensive for one device, let alone covering everything. It would cost more than my car and home insurance combined.

I don’t know what insurance rates you have in the UK, but I pay about $150 per month to cover 2 cars and about $75 per month for home insurance, $20 per month for AC+ covers my 17PM, U2 and iPad …

Nor for portables, I have done for iMac which I used, and a studio display I just got, you get in home service if needed, 5 hours drive to a Apple Store for me.

Here in Australia consumer law requires Apple to provide two years' defect warranty for iPhones (and three for Macs), so AppleCare would only be worth it for loss or damage. And adding the phone to your home and contents insurance is usually more economical.

I use this for the camera plateau.

I just found this on AliExpress: $5.01 | 3 - 5 Pcs HD / Matte Lens Fibre Base Protective Film For iPhone 17 Pro Max 17 Pro Transparent Fiber Hollow Lens Chassis Film

I use this for the MagSafe square.

Not necessary if you pay your monthly cell phone bill with a credit card that offers protection, such as the Wells Fargo Autograph (up to $600 per claim, twice per year, with only a $25 deductible) which also gives you 3% cash back too.

Yes. I’ve had apple care since iPhone 5. Then the same for when I had the iPhone : 11 Pro Max, 12 Pro Max, 13 Pro Max, 15 Pro Max, and my 17 Pro Max. Apple care came in handy when my iPhone 5 fell in the toilet (unused) and got water damaged. Also came in handy when I dropped my 12 Pro Max right before I got my 13 Pro Max delivered and a car ran over it, damaging the back camera. Also came in handy changing the battery for my 13 Pro Max when I upgraded to 15 Pro Max as I gave that 13 to my sister. I’m gonna use it again to change the battery for the 15 Pro Max as it’s my boyfriend’s new phone now that I have the 17 Pro Max. I don’t have the extra money it would cost to buy a new phone should anything bad happen to it or the expensive repairs. Much cheaper for me to have apple care and pay the deductible if it applies.

I always bought the standard plan. I never bought the theft and loss. I have it now with Apple One. It does keep me extra piece of mind, even though I’m mindful about keeping track of my phone.
