I didn't realise people would buy the 4S based on sympathy/grief after Steve's passing. I spent a long time saying 'really?' to a lot of posts on this thread.

Personally, I'm probably going to upgrade (have a 3Gs) and am on a very *****ty carrier in Oz and I want reception. Luckily my contract ends at the end of the year so I'll see if antennaegate is still a problem and make my decision based on reviews, etc.

I guess I'm stuck on the 'S' cycle iPhones now!

I currently have a crappy android phone (not saying android is crap, but the phone I am using the os with is).

I was hoping for a 5 with a slightly larger screen, but the draw of IOS5 cloud etc is tempting, especially as I own an ipad2 that would benefit a lot from the sync.

I am considering a Galaxy S2 but most likely will get the 4S.

I've had my 3GS for almost two years now. It's barely keeping up.

Apple added quite a lot in my opinion.
The transition from 3G to 3GS was very slight. It had a better camera, better processor and it came in white. Still it was something that made the 3GS itself a good phone and I've been happy with it.

I understand why people want the new iPhone to be more shiny with lots of new features. But Apple focussed on it being customer friendly.
That's why it has a new camera, with more automatic settings to take a good photo without much effort. The new processor, better battery life, two antenna's, faster 3G speeds, IOS 5, iCloud and Sirri all have that same goal in mind.

Yes I am disappointed about the phone not having a slightly bigger screen, especially after all the hype.
The 4S seems to have a very solid feel to it, coming with all these upgrades for a mere ''S'' transition.

It's good to know that my next phone is more of a powerhouse concerning it's features. That's something my 3GS wasn't known for when it was released.
The specs may not seem all that impressive because Apple ''just'' used the same A5 chip they put in an iPad. That very same chip gives a user half the power of an Xbox 360 (give or take), in your pocket. No other tablet or smartphone has managed to beat it's performance as of yet. Sounds good to me :p

I'm unsure at this point.

Being honest, I still really like my iPhone 4!

If I were to get another phone though, the 4S would be my first choice though I'm curious to see what Samsung offer up with the Nexus Prime.

I'll see what options my carrier gives me for a 64GB 4S and whether the NP impresses next week.

No I bought 4 when it came out. It is still in great shape. Hopefully it will get me by until 5 comes out.

I'm totally getting up at 3 am to preorder. Last summer, I woke up at my normal time of 4:30 EDT and the servers were already hemorrhaging; I don't want to deal with that again this year.

Lol yeah I'm probably just going to stay up and try not to fall asleep later. I just know I'm going to sleep through an alarm that early.

I'm on an iP 3G 8Gb... so I guess the logical upgrade for me is the 3GS 16Gb?

ha, whatevs cuz. I'll be getting the 64GB (that stands for 64 GIGA BEASTS right?)

now that will be a super serial upgrade and the intended platform for iOS5.

WILL I USE SIRI ON PUBLIC TRANSPORT??

probably just to give the iP4 lock in's iEnvy.

Is this thread dead? Because I will be picking one up for my wife to replace her 3GS. It's a good fit for her. I might even convince my mom to get one, replacing her nearly-dead feature phone. For myself, I have a s l o w 3G that will most likely be replaced with the Galaxy Nexus. ICS looks like a nice change for a geek-type like myself.
