As much disgust as I have with Apple right now, especially in terms of not getting what you pay for (the iOS and battery life); it wouldn't surprise me if I eat my angst and capitulate.:mad::rolleyes: That said, I am starting to research the competition.

A 1080p LCD display will use less battery, be less processor/GPU intensive and won't suffer 'burn in'
If it uses less battery or not is debatable; LCD displays use the same power for a full-black screen with one white pixel on it as they do for a full-white screen with no black pixels. Also, future OLED panels could perhaps reach similar power efficiency as WLED edge-lit LCD panels as used.

As for burn-in, my Apple Watch used the same watchface for more than a year with no visible burn-in after switching to another face. Is this actually a genuine concern anymore? I haven't seen any horror stories on the interwebs about burn-in (it's not actually burn-in!), and such stories do tend to cause a lot of hullabaloo.

OLED pixels wear, they don't burn in. That term refers to old CRT screens and their phosphorous backing on the inside of the picture tube front face.
