I am just curious to see what people think about the new Apple advertising for the “Crystal“ strengthened glass on the iPhone, and whether or not they will still use some form of screen protector on their new iPhone 12, or wait to decide for once product testers reveal reviews on the actual durability of the glass.

I will definitely be using a screen protector. I am not really worried about cracking my screen as I am about deterring scratches. Having scratches on the screen would drive me nuts. I would have to get a new phone. Lol
This is very true. Nothing is worse than having a scratch across the front of the phone.

I have had a tempered glass protector on all my phones since the iPhone 6, and it has saved me once or twice before. I just wish one day there will be a truly scratch/crack resistant screen that lets you use the phone as intended without the protector.

If the price of AppleCare+ decreased for iPhone 12, I'd consider that a sign of confidence. But it's still $149/$199.
This is true, though at the same time I wouldn’t anticipate a major manufacturer backing down the cost of warranty programs because they know its more reliable.

Point in case is the MacBook Pro lineup... even though they finally got rid of the less than reliable butterfly keyboard, they still kept the same warranty cost for AppleCare+ on the new keyboards.

Yeah, I’m getting this one below....

I always use a screen protector. Glass is glass and I just like having that peace of mind in case something happens.

Yes, will be buying one for DW and I. And I will painstakingly try to put them on as even as possible without any bubbles or a speck of dust beneath the protector. I demand full silence in the house with every light on in the room on top of a lamp shining directly on the phone while I'm doing it.

Yes, it gives me piece of mind having one slap on the front screen and back camera. Don’t really care about the brand.

I got a deep scratch on my 11 early into owning it and it’s driven me crazy all year. I will never not have a screen protector again!

This.

I've never used one, but considering it this time. My 11 Pro Max has these scratches on the screen that are really noticeable and drive me crazy. I had a XS for work and I used both with no case. One day I held them both on top of each other and the camera bump from XS scratched my 11PM screen all over from moving. Died a little inside.

I know things don't happen often like that, and I'm usually gentle on my electronics - but it only takes that one time...

I’ve never needed one before. I am quite gentle with my phones. But just one wrong pocket or fuzz with dirt/dust can damage it. I don’t want that again.

I use screen protectors more to preserve the oleo phobic coating and because they often feel smoother under my fingers than the bare display.

I have never put any screen protector on any of my phones. Never got a single scratch or crack.
Lucky? No. It is my gentleness with things that I own in general.

That's incredible. I JUST cracked my X screen last week. Watched it fall from the sink in the bathroom onto the tile floor face down 😔

Definately... just having crack or scratches on the glass screen protectors drives me nuts... but just being able to swap it real quick fixes the issues and cheap!... I can't imagine having to deal with scratches on the main screen, and can't do much about it besides replacing the screen or getting a new phone.

No, but I never have. For me it seems the screen either holds up great or shatters completely.
