The only one in stock in Sweden was the 16/256GB or the 8/512GB and I need 16GB of RAM. And as I needed it for work badly as I was working from home.
Yeah, I had to wait a couple of weeks on mine - it was shipped from China. And as I was going to operate my legg etc. my employer did not ofc pay for it. (our government are paying us for the sick leave so the employer are not loosing any money when we are going on sick leave)
I was either going on sick leave for 6-8 weeks with only 75% pay or I was buying it with my own money and work from home with it.
I was going to loose around 1700 Euro if I was not buying it.
So well, we can say that I did get it for free - almost anyway 😉
I tested the X86 emulation within one of the latest Win10 ARM developer releases with heavy processor load (Altium Designer 19) on my M1 Air with 8GB RAM. All that within VMs under Parallels and also UTM.ARM VM's are the only thing that works well enough. I'm hoping for some decent x86 emulation eventually, but it's just not there yet. Need a faster processor for that too.
My Intel Mac Mini always run Windows VM's as a kind of server for me at home, and my real VM workhorse is a Windows desktop.
I know, I have other machines to do the VM work, but I do occasionally travel and I need a portable that can get the job done in a pinch. I wanted my MBA to be that machine.
I'm really looking forward to the possible miniLED screen and that will probably push me enough to upgrade, even if 16G is all the RAM it may have. (and the active cooling) That's kind of my priority list...
Ok? But I want the feature built inYou would already be carrying a portable charger in the form of your laptop; regardless, you can get USB-C cellular modems so you can have this feature regardless of what Apple does.
Added now, you can just change your vote. You left the iMac off the list of options. I expect my M1 iMac to last me at least 5 years if not longer.
I bought a M1 Mac mini 16GB / 256 GB just to check it out and to try Windows on Parallels.
It is running fairly good (some graphic problems on the hdmi 2.0 monitor).
But I will not invest in another M1 Mac if Windows 10 / 11 on Parallels is further rather a "test-installation" and not an official product.
