Willl a MB Pro drive work in my MB

My friend just upgraded his MacBook Pro and gave me his old hard drive. I already backed up my mac to an external. Can I just stick the MB Pro drive in my MB or will I run into firmware issues or some other problem.

I'm running 10.4.11 and he's using Leopard.

Should work fine. You may have to reformat and transfer back to the new drive.

Reformatting. That's the issue that concerns me. I'm not 100% sure where I put my OS X install disc, so I was hoping I could use the drive without reformatting it.
