Helping someone at the office with his epic fail:

He "opened" a word document from yahoo email, saved it, but can't find it again.

I suspect the person saved the document in the temporary download folder, but can't find the path to it (found the hidden cache folder but that wasn't it). Anyone got any clue on where the document could be found?

He's got Norton installed. Maybe that puts these files in a different place?

Does he know what the file is named?

The temporary files are usually buried. So I would try finding the "Temporary Internet Files" location. Worst comes to worse, he can re-download it and do a "Save As..."

The problem is that he edited the file for a couple of hours.

Have tried searching by file name but no luck.

Windows 7 hides the temp files well. First of all, searching won't help since Windows 7 doesn't search hidden folder contents (at least not by default, I have yet to find a way to turn it on). Though I don't know where the folder is specifically, odds are it is buried in the hidden AppData folder in your user folder. That can be viewed easily enough by turning on the show hidden files/folders option in Folder Options.
