Windows 7 install on 2nd hdd using usb dvd drive

in my 15" i5 2.4ghz, I have a 40gb ssd (running osx) and a 500gb hdd in the optical bay, so my machine doesn't have the super drive.

Does anyone know if I boot from a external usb dvd drive with windows 7 to install it on the 500gb hdd and then install the boot camp drivers after?

I was able to do this in my 15" with an 80GB SSD and 1TB HDD, works with no issues. I typically only load up into Windows to play Fallout 3!

Have you got win7 on the second hdd or the ssd?

What did you have to do to get the win7 64bit dvd to work?
