First off I have a 21.5" late 09 iMac, a while back the hard drive went so I replaced it with a larger 1TB HD, when I put Mac OS back on it the fans ran at maximum speed, which i was told was to do with the SMART cable or something, but I got a handy app called SSD Fan Control (http://exirion.net) which allowed me to slow my fans and run them at normal speeds, so that was fine.

But I have recently installed Windows 7 Ultimate via Boot Camp and its all fine but the annoying thing is, the fans max out again when on the Windows partition because here is no application to control them, Is there any way or application i can get on the Windows side of it to control the fans the same way i did on OS X, I need the windows side for my college course and also want it for some games :p

Thanks, any help appreciated :apple:

I have came up with theory why Windows and Macs have horrible heat issues and what could be done to fix it. I was thinking while messing back and forth between Mac os and Windows why the heat seemed to be less and not just because of what video card you are using. I came up that they tweaked Mac OS to go beyond Balanced Power to always go to some type of Power Saver and to always go to that state by default. To me it would make perfect sense, by being stuck in say 1.0Ghz it would always be cool to almost to the touch all the time and if Apple would allow that type of driver management on Bootcamp than everyone would be happy. I know they wouldn't if they haven't let Windows users still have access to the second video card I doubt they would ever allow better device management.
