So i want to install windows on my mac to play games. Would windows 7 do the trick, or is XP really THAT much better for games?

Xp isn't free :/

Also, if I install windows, can I get viruses from it that can hurt my mac? Any way to protect against the viruses?

Windows 7 works fine for games. It's a little better than Vista, and a touch below XP, but you shouldn't notice the difference, as the 9400M will limit you either way :p

Any Windows viruses will not affect your Mac partition. You can use a free virus-scanner like AVG-free http://free.avg.com/ to keep your Windows side clean. Alternatively, you could just not make yourself prone to viruses by being smart about your internet habits, and using pop-up blockers+FireFox running AdBlock and NoScript as starters.
