Thumbs up to iParis for not being taken in by the M$ hype machine. All they can do is rely on marketing rather that actually making decent products.
The US courts really should have broken M$ apart when they had the chance but they didn't have the balls. Hopefully EU will do that soon.

Everyone has been bought by the MS marketing and claim 7 is an improvement. Well clearly iParis has better judgement than that. It's clear from watching the video in my first post as well as iParis's posts that 7 is even worse than Vista.

personally, I think the transition between vista and 7 is better than leopard and snow leopard. I really do think that apple are not going the best direction with sl, I aM so used to apple implementing new features that sl will come a surprise, is it being harsh comparing it too a service pAck for windows? I know there is a lot of new stuff going on underneath, but that doesn't sell products, features do ( stability etc). I think 7 is what vista should have been, but is it too late for ms to regain the good rep?

Even though I agree with you mostly, I'm not completely on your side.
Windows 7 Beta is better than Windows Vista SP1. I'm not saying it's better mainly because of it's features, but because of it's performance and stability improvements.
I had a laptop with Vista running on 1GB ram and a 1.66GHz Celeron M. processor, it ran like crap. My mom had a computer just a few models down with XP running on 512MB ram and a 800somethingMHzIntel M. processor. Her laptop runs over ten times as fast as mine. Many other people had the problem with Vista taking up too much resources but now you see a bunch of people doing fine with Windows 7 running on 758MB ram.
That is really pathetic actually. Microsoft just gave up so they released a new OS which should have been Vista.
I go on another site and many of them have Windows 7 beta, and many of them are IT people who work on computers of a living and they even said Windows 7 runs 100X's better then Vista. So who am I going to believe, you or people who work on computers for a living? I won't even believe that fanboy in that video. I am SO glad I didn't see that video before I got my Mac, people like that and you are a real turn off to Apple products.
Snow Leopard isn't supposed to have new features for the user, but it's focus is on reducing the OS footprint and increasing security.. It's something M$ should have done ages ago with Windows. I'm glad to see Apple is willing to take some 'time out' so to speak and put their energies into making the system more stable and safe.
That's what they're doing with 7. The UI tweaks don't extend much past the new start menu, beyond that almost all of the changes are system performance and stability related.
Ok , bit odd but each to there own an all that.
Thing is I just don't understand one putting so much energy into 'loving' Apple Mac , mind you I don't understand folks putting so much effort into loving Man United or Liverpool FC or Miami dolphins, whatever, the only 'thing' worth putting that much love into is your missis (or mister).
No kidding, I never got it either. If this emeek person put all this energy into some productive, he probably would get a lot done.
What Microsoft is doing with Windows 7 is fixing the terrible Vista-mess. They're basically fixing problems and refreshing the GUI.

ah, but it's difficult for microsoft to work on reducing the OS footprint, because they have to worry about legacy issues, something apple more or less doesn't need to. for example, it's rumored that snow leopard won't run on powerpc processors, even though the switch occured less than 5 years ago. that's something microsoft could never do in that period of time.
It would be a necessary step for the benefit of the OS.. it would be temporarily unpleasant and result in a drop of revenue but overall it's the only way they can build a decent OS - scrap the former way of doing it and build it right.
Or, produce two versions of Windows instead of the stupid 6 versions - one for current and future and one that provides legacy. Gradually, as the new systems are purchased and come preinstalled it would be changed over enough so they could drop legacy support altogether. Look how they bragged about how successful XP and Vista were: If that's really the case, then within just a few years they could be running the vast majority of PCs on a newer, more stable and more secure Windows that would some of the bad rap they've receive lately.

well, i sure couldn't watch that video the op linked. but after reading this thread, it seems like you have some people who hate M$, and those trying to tell the others no to hate M$.
really both have an argument. M$ did have a monopoly, and i believe there are plenty of people out there that don't even think about buying a mac, and think their only real choice is a pc. which gives M$ a huge advantage over Apple.
and then, you do have people who go overboard and say everything from M$ is crap. i think Windows 7 is a step in the right direction from Vista. i don't hate it or anything, and i have it installed on my mac.

My point is that will snow leopard sell? I can nearly guardntee that 7 will sell like hot cakes as it's such a vast improvment of vista, it increases performance and stability aswell as implementing a new interface and GUI improvements. Snow leopard only offers stability (which we are still yet to see, rewriting finder is a risky step, it's like rewriting explorer) and performance increase, which are already so high on all currently selling mac systems. I will not buy snow leopard if it's priced at the same level as leopard. At max I would pay £30 for it. We are not the average consumer, we have a far deeper insight into computers than probably 90% of people that walk into thoses apple stores every day. If you were out to buy a new os and one came with new features new inteerface etc, and one came with speed improvements that would be barely noticeable on new macs, which one would you choose? I'm not saying that I hate macs etc, I just think that apple have got their stratajy wrong this time.

I'm an Apple fanboy, but I don't hate MS. I'm excited about win7, not because I'll use it because I'm happy for MS. It sounds like it may be what I consider a good OS for once.
Fanboys consider this: The better MS does, the better Apple has to be to compete. So anything good for MS is ultimately good for Apple.

Hmmm. Considering Vista has been more stable than Leopard (at least - if you're not Boot Camping on POSs), I suppose 7 is the uber-Snow-Leopard.
