Installs just fine on Parallels 6.
The problem come when you try installing the Parallels Tools.
The seemed to install fine, but after a restart I get the login screen but once you get into Win 8 all I get is a black screen.
I'll keep playing around and see what I can get happening.

Great, thanks! I imagine Parallels Tools will be the issue...

same thing happens to me Black screen. works under Virtualbox but its the same un accelerated performance that parallels offers. I've looked no solution yet

For anyone still trying to install the tools here's what you need to do to solve the black screen problem:

Workaround for issue with black screen in Windows 8 with guest tools installed.

Shut down virtual machine.
Open [Virtual Machine Configuration > Hardware > Boot Order] and locate [Boot flags].
In [Boot flags] write:

devices.video.pci_device_id=0x5005;

Run virtual machine. Install Parallels Tools (if not yet).

Known issues with that workaround: Coherence, Dynamic Resolution, Smart Mouse (Sliding Mouse) will not work.

However, Smart Mouse (Sliding Mouse) can be enabled manually.
Open [Virtual Machine Configuration > Options > Advanced] and set [Smart Mouse] to [On].
This will allow Smart Mouse to work in Windows 8 even when described workaround applied.

Came directly from Parallels: http://forum.parallels.com/showpost.php?p=459602&postcount=27

Also curious. How do I bootcamp it on my MacBook Air, since it has no optical drive.

You need to create a bootable USB with the ISO file. To do this you can use disc burn on a Windows 7 machine, or download a tool like UltaISO. Either way you may need another machine to do so.

Yep, same here. I installed Win8 as Win7 (in the OS option menu); the setup was quick and easy. When it came to installing Parallels Tools: no matter how many times I run the installer, the thing doesn't even start. Additionally, I had trouble opening many of the "Metro" apps.
