Will it be possible to install the Windows 8 preview on Parallels 7?
Also curious. How do I bootcamp it on my MacBook Air, since it has no optical drive.
Installs just fine on Parallels 6.
The problem come when you try installing the Parallels Tools.
The seemed to install fine, but after a restart I get the login screen but once you get into Win 8 all I get is a black screen.
I'll keep playing around and see what I can get happening.
Great, thanks! I imagine Parallels Tools will be the issue...
same thing happens to me Black screen. works under Virtualbox but its the same un accelerated performance that parallels offers. I've looked no solution yet
You can buy an external drive I think...
Use another Mac's rom drive?
This will allow you to use the Rom drive of another Mac.
For anyone still trying to install the tools here's what you need to do to solve the black screen problem:
Came directly from Parallels: http://forum.parallels.com/showpost.php?p=459602&postcount=27
Awesome post Thanks!!!
You need to create a bootable USB with the ISO file. To do this you can use disc burn on a Windows 7 machine, or download a tool like UltaISO. Either way you may need another machine to do so.
Also works fine with VMware Fusion 4. I have a screenshot gallery of the process over on my blog - http://www.lifeintech.com/gallery/windows-8-dp1/
I even installed the VMware Tools with no issues. Aero effects, etc are all working.
Yep, same here. I installed Win8 as Win7 (in the OS option menu); the setup was quick and easy. When it came to installing Parallels Tools: no matter how many times I run the installer, the thing doesn't even start. Additionally, I had trouble opening many of the "Metro" apps.
Use below tutorial in Install Windows 8 DP on Parallels desktop 4
For those having trouble with parallel tools, take a look at this fix.
Works you follow this.
