windows and apple question

    i just have a quick question that has been bothering me.
    if apple ---> unix
    then windows--->*****

    Their own custom made system based on NT. The man who wrote it also worked on VMS and RSX-11.

    The NT kernel is derived from, borrowed from or has had compatibility with parts of OS/2, POSIX and BSD.

    For accuracy's sake, OS X is based on a variant of BSD which only got official Unix certification when Leopard was being developed.
