Updated this morning, type cover trackpad scrolling seems to be greatly improved when using Chrome. My SP3 battery life also got a boost so I'm happy with it so far.

I'm happy with the update as well. The Edge browser (if you don't need extensions) is much improved. I also like having the extra column of tiles in the Start menu. The extra column also makes tablet use better.

Got it earlier today. I've played with it a couple of hours now, and so far, I haven't seen any GPU crashes while browsing the internet. Also, touchpad tracking seems to be greatly improve all around, save for pinch to zoom, which is still flaky.

Tentatively speaking, it seems that MS has finally fixed all the annoying bugs I've been experiencing since I first grabbed my SP4.

Got the update this morning for my ASUS laptop, seems to be working well. The OS itself feels faster in certain areas and battery life for today seemed unchanged.

I particularly like the ability to resize both snapped windows at the same time by adjusting the middle intersection. I used to have to adjust the other window manually when I adjusted one.

Along with all the bug fixes and typical performance improvements, I think this is a great update :)

Oh, and I just got a security update for IE11 Flash player as well. Boy is Microsoft churning out updates fast or what!

I've noticed that, while everything else seems to be better overall, my battery life in sleep mode seems to be a little worse. I seem to be losing about 8-10% an hour, give or take, which is far from good.
For some reason, I seem to have poor standby life as well (since Win10). From what I can tell it may be the Audio driver keeping the system awake. What do you see if you open a command prompt (as admin I believe) and type powercfg /requests

My Thinkpad laptop was fine but after update audio wasn't working because somehow speakers were unchecked as default but easy fix. Worse is losing WIFI coming out of sleep and having to disable/reenable to restore. Hope it was a one off and not recurring.

That's what it's looking like. Nothing else is showing, save for the Realtek audio driver. It's saying that an audio stream is currently in use.

I wonder if that's still tied to the SD card? Have you tried removing that if you have one and seeing what happens?

Scrolling is greatly improved.

A bit more consistency on menu styles.

No brightness slider yet, but we did get a 0% option (I don't think that was there before, was it??)

Battery life initially seems the same or a bit better. Still wish the estimated time didn't jump around so much...

So far I think I'm going to like a Windows that is continually improved rather than receiving mostly only bug fixes!

Microsoft is improving so much lately it's incredible the change in direction they have made the last year or so. Continuously adding features and improving the software instead of waiting every year like apple do.

Alright, I've got it plugged in and charging. Once it reaches 100%, I'll kill the sound card, shut it down for the night, and see if it improves battery life while in standby.

And another bit of bad news, I saw the GPU crash bug rear its head while in Edge a little while ago. While it's not nearly so common, it is still lurking about.

Double post! Surface is charged to 100%, and the soundcard is disabled. To make sure, I doublechecked powercfg, and nothing is keeping it from going to sleep.

When I got home, I plugged in my wireless keyboard and mouse dongle into the USB port, and could hear the chime sound off, even though I had it asleep. Right now, with the sound hardware disabled, I'm expecting my sleep drain to fall back to pre-update standards.

It is 10:03 PM. I'm taking the plug out, and putting it in standby.

edit: I cheated a bit. Wanted to play around with something in Photoshop.

Though when I opened it up at 10:58, it was still at 100% charge. That alone shows a good bit of improvement.

But okay, gonna charge it up to full again, and post a new time.

Alright. From 11:15 PM to 10:08 AM, I lost about 6% of my battery. Now that's much better.

Shame I have to turn off my sound card to get those numbers. Guess we all have another update to look forward to in the near future.
Do you have Cortana turned on? I wonder if it is grabbing the sound hardware and not letting go.

Yeah, I do, and I have it set to active with "hey, Cortana". It didn't respond while I have the machine asleep, but I'll deactivate it nonetheless, see what it does.

edit: That did it! I turned off Hey Cortana, rebooted the computer, and ran powercfg. The sound card is no longer perpetually active.

Though now I have "Legacy Kernel Caller" preventing me from sleeping. Found this after a quick Google. I'll investigate more.
