    I was wondering if it is possible to install Windows XP on an external hard drive that would be linked to my imac via USB or Firewire. OS X be installed on the iMacs hard drive, with Windows stuff on the external. Is it possible? And if it is, how do you select to boot up in Windows?

    Cheers

    Hmm. That sounds very tricky indeed! I have one of the new iMacs (purchased in december 2007) and I am not to confident in opening that up to remove the hard drive? Why on earth do you have to remove the hard drive. Is there not some option to boot up from the USB drive?

    Anyone know if removing the hard drive is easy?

    NOw I found this on the internet;

    According to that, you do not need to remove your hard drive. I am confused!

    I think that if you use a Firewire drive, you're fine. USB is more troublesome.
