This is blasphemy I know . . . but I am setting up an HPC cluster render farm using Mac Mini's. Now, I don't want bootcamp, or any of its issues with which operating system to use, etc.

Basically, I want the mac mini, with its GPU/Processor capabilities, in a cheap small form factor. I want it with NO TRACE of OS X.

So I try to wipe and go . . . then I run into the GPT partition table problem. Does anyone know how to install Windows Server 2008 as a full-blown clean format install on a mac mini?

I got OS X back up and running after trying to reformat the drive in Windows setup . . . but how do I convert the partition table to MBR so that I can install Windows ONLY?

    Thanks

Boot off the OSX install disk. Go to the "Utilities" menu (IIRC that is what it's called...) and select "Disk Utility". Once that opens, click on the drive you want to erase and select the "Partition" tab. Choose the number of partitions you want then hit the options button and select "MBR". Finally hit "Apply" and you should be all set!

I am surprised that the GPT partition table is giving you problems though, I have XP/Vista dual booting on their own GPT formatted drive and they both run (and installed) with no problems.

What about EFI/BIOS issue? There's more to installing Windows than just partition tables.

Not really... There's no need to have Mac OS X installed unless he needs to apply firmware updates. The only problem he may have is if he needs to modify the BIOS settings for one reason or anothher.
