in a way apple already did this in mac os sierra, up to El Capitan we had the option to allow apps from anywhere but in Sierra that option disappear, apple thinks that by hiding or removing that option that will make os "more secure" the only way to turn that option back on is by using a terminal command that enable that hidden option or feature
No, the non-hidden options in Sierra are "App Store" and "App Store and identified developers", which can be from anywhere. For non-identified developers, just right-click on an app and select "Open". You only have to do that once (per app), and don't need any terminal commands.

Clearly there seem to be a great need for people to talk about the pros and cons of Flash.
Great. Enjoy that discussion, but where do I go too find out what can be done to detect and eliminate this malware?

Suggesting not to install Flash when a Mac might be already infected is really not helpful.
Not a bit. Nope. Zilch. Nada.

Also after you run malwarebytes and if it finds malware follow instructions to remove it. Then go to top left corner of your screen click on safari>general> if homepage looks suspicious change it to what ever you want.

There are NO pros to Flash, NONE.

That's an asinine statement. The PRO is the damn web site works that you want to visit. And frankly, given the Internet could not do remotely most of those things until HTML5 came out, we owe a HUGE debt of gratitude to Adobe for making the Internet bearable all these years or it would probably still look like 1994! People today have no appreciation what the Web was like back then since most of you WHINING about Flash probably weren't even fracking born yet! That group has no idea what life was like without cell phones or anything else (and they missed the best decade since the 1960 known as the Big 80s and it was that awesome without any of that CRAP. Video arcades, MTV (the real one), REAL MUSIC on the radio. Kids today have no conception of life without Facebook even, living in their parents houses until they've got gray hair). Statistics show most of the worst driving offenders are from the same age group. I still blame Steve Jobs for the damn modern smart phone. Worst invention EVER, singlehandedly moving most driving deaths from drinking to texting.

Agreed. He should ditch his entire career and livelihood because sometimes he has to use Flash. Makes perfect sense.
I did, it was use Macs at work or use Windows at work, and believe me in 1993 it was hard to find a Mac job. In 1993 I chose Mac and have never looked back. There are tons of jobs too for guys who know Windows, and even tho I now dabble in Windows IT, which is LIKE THE MOST ANNOYING THING in the World...I am glad I stuck it out with Macs back in the day...

Is this Flash Player install file coming from Adobe's website or are people installing it from another source?

NO! JUST NO!

That would make the Mac little more than a glorified fracking iPad. Maybe YOU want that, but I would abandon the Mac entirely if they do that. Not all software is "Apple approved" including ALL software that's not "family friendly". This would DESTROY the Mac forever (but then Tim Cook is halfway there already so you may get your wish.
WHOOSH!

I don't read Reddit and other junk sites. I've never seen " /s " so how would I know what it means? Why should anyone expect everyone to know what some cryptic BS garbage from a site that has a horrible 1980s style interface means? We've had smileys for ages and this site has its own icons and so someone uses what looks like a hanging chad of HTML code and I'm supposed to recognize that as sarcasm??? On a site where fanatics actually and truly WANT that? That's BS. Take your hidden cryptograms somewhere else.

"/s" isn't exclusive to Reddit. People have been using that here and many other places for years. Also, it should have been obvious as sarcasm even without that. Instead of getting irrationally angry, how about just apologizing and moving on? Why is that so hard?

For all of those saying it's dumb to install flash, I have to for my homework and online classes for my university. I'd love to give it up, but some of us just don't have the option to.

This is true. I sometimes have to have it for certifications where the class designers still use antiquated flash video etc. it's awful!

I only allow it in my windows VM and keep it off the MacOS side.

So many damn web site have continued to drag on with Flash. Those sites I will often use the contact button and lambast them for not upgrading to HTML5. I've gotten some feedback that they are working on it, but the company doesn't want to spend additional dollars in making the change. Those sites I put on my list to not visit unless absolutely necessary.

I think my system may have gotten something recently. Trying to check now. Got two things popping up on my screen.
1) System Scan is recommended with guy in right hand corner
2) Open MacKeeper now popping up on top of screen next to bluetooth button.

Mistake number one: installing Adobe Flash to begin with.

while I mainly agree, some software, mainly educational that I can think of still uses flash in some capacity. While flash is dying, not everything is converted just yet.
