I like 10 quite a lot; have it installed on a Dell Inspiron 15 with Haswell i7 16gb ram and dual gpu and touch screen and it's pretty stable though with this 9860 build which should be offered shortly the wifi breaks when unplugged from the mains and half the settings section is incomplete. It's not stable enough for me to stick in one of my working dual boot Mac systems yet as they have already been ahci modded, work perfectly and have to stay that way, though I may be tempted to throw it on a mini or a sled in my Mac Pro soon..

I finally got around to rebuilding my Windows 10 VM after losing it during the Yosemite upgrade. This time I am storing the VM on my RAID arrary since I don't want to include it in my Time Machine Back up.

Performance seems to be good so far not being on an SSD anyway.

Installation of the x64 desktop version 9841 and updating it to 9860 results in a 22GB file using Vmware. Operating System only, no software added. FYI.

How did you get build 9860? I just downloaded the ISO from MS yesterday and ran all the updates available and I'm still at 9841.

I haven't played with it since initially installing it in my Mac. I'll see if there's any updates waiting for me, once I fire up that bad boy :)

Yeah, I did a fresh download of it yesterday afternoon, installed all the available updates, along with installing Office 2013 and Visio Professional 2013 and their associated updates.

My copy still shows 9841.

MS does not provide a new 9860 iso for initial installation. You need to install 9841 first, then update to 9860. Again, 22GB for OS only.

I defragmented and compressed the VMware disk file already by giving the 22GB number.

Okay. How do I update? Windows Update via the Control Panel doesn't do it.

No problem. Issues with waking from sleep with this build, I get black screen hangs but it's a very common problem with early betas like this. That's four in a row with vista, 7, 8 and now 10.

Might not be an issue with you virtual people :D

Yeah, mine is in a VM so I either shut it down or suspend it.

I've never had good luck in putting Windows computers to sleep and so I just never do it.

Closing the lid usually does the trick. Vista was always a PITA but 7 and 8 worked fine. VM drivers are generic and I have a Haswell dual GPU setup with this Inspiron 15

Putting them to sleep was never much a problem for me, it was waking them from sleep that always gave me trouble. :p

That's the one. Kids closed the lid as I let them be my testers while I'm working lol. Vista was notorious for it but I thought that was a detestable load of rubbish, rather like how I feel about the current stable version :D

I'm certainly liking the new version a lot compared to Windows 8.1 and look forward to upgrading from Windows 7 down the road at the office.

I have 11 to upgrade - 4 for the two macs (vm and boot camp) I use and 7 others - only one hasn't got an ssd thankfully but will next year!

I have about the same amount of PC's to upgrade too. Right now they're all on Windows 7, and one Windows 8 PC. Right now I am upgrading my server environment to Server 2012 from Server 2003 and putting them into a VM in Vcenter on a NexSAN.

I'm looking forward to update to Windows 10 as well, in native ( BootCamp ) mode. Currently still on Windows 7. But to be honest, what else can we do ;) ? Waiting forever is not an option forever.

Happy with the Technical Preview so far.

The Mac Pro 3,1 and the MBP 17 late 2011 will have to go Win 10 bootcamp which may be tricky, though I am looking for a Mac Pro 5,1 dual socket at the moment.

I've got two HP EX495's, one running WHS2011 and the other is going 2012E which was WHS v1. Got a Q9550S for it to fit, still need one more 4tb and an 840 Pro for boot. That will be in workgroup mode to backup the newer systems.

The 2011 is more tricky cos it connects to my disk array, think I may hold off on that till later next year and keep it for a media server!

I'm not much of a power user at home anymore, so trying to put Windows 10 through its paces isn't as easy for me. I just have it set up to do the few, simple, things that I normally do at home.

I could put it into use at the office, but I can't use it as a production environment either.

So I just gauge it based on how I normally use a computer, much like how I tested the public beta of Yosemite.
