Been looking all over and have not been able to solve. The Ipad 2 died while it was updating (shouldn't of not let my son do it:). Comes on with connect to itunes. When plugged into the computer Windows 8 the device is not recognized and in the device manager it says (device descriptor request failed).

    I've tried:
    Hard reset
    Put in DFU mode
    check for driver updates
    restart apple deal in services
    changed usb cords

Personally, I think it has something to do with the Ipad, definitely not in warranty anymore.

    Thank you for any help!!!

I just went through this same thing with an iPhone.
Update got interrupted and after that it would only go to the Connect to iTunes screen.
Multiple restores and multiple DFU modes did nothing.
Took it into the Apple Store and they also tried a DFU restore without any luck.
Only option was out of warranty replacement and I didn't think it was worth it.

Bummer. Sounds like my Ipad is fried. I was hoping some hacker dude had a solution.
