hey there,

I am currently waiting for the new mbp to come out so i can buy one and go into the mac world for the very first time. Meanwhile, I'd like to get windows xp to look as much as possible to leopard because I do love how it looks. I surfed the net for a solution but nothing really good seems to be out there so i was just wondering if someone here would know or tried something worthy.

I'm sorry if I posted this in the wrong forum.

Thanks again everyone

Well, there ISN'T anything really good, as XP just doesn't behave like OS X. However, the best lookalike out there can be had from flyakite. You'll need WindowBlinds for best results.

I would not try flyakite if I were you. I tried it and ended up having to reinstall my system. I've tried different windowblinds as well but each one seems to have small errors or glitches. I would recommend simply using ObjectDock. Once you set it up with icons you like (can take a while) you can replace the taskbar with it. The free version doesn't have access to the system tray, not a big deal for me I just quit object dock when I need to use the system tray which isn't very often. Or you can get the paid version for that, havn't tried it though.

Here's how I have mine set up:

There is a technical reason why Win XP could never look like Leopard:

Windows XP doesn't have the same kind of graphical compositing layer found in modern OSs such as Mac OS X and more recently, Windows Vista.

So alpha-transparency, translucency, drop shadows etc. Forget it.

Just keep looking forward to your Macintosh!

Yesterday I saw this thread and I decided to modify my XP computer similar. Well I very impressed with the results.:)

^^You have to paste the link in the Address bar for it to work.

Programs for the icons:
Any to Icon - For converting images to icon files.
Icon Tweak - For installing icons system wide.

For Icons navigate to Program Files/RK Launcher/Icons for tons.

For others:
http://interfacelift.com/icons-win/details.php?id=1896
http://www.osx-e.com/downloads/icons/panther_icons.html

As for the rest, I have to thank zeiter

Enjoy

I don't really like ObjectDock. Sure it looks the part but clicking launchers just opens another window. I wished it was more mac like in that clicking the explorer launcher would bring all the explorer windows to front :(

In RK Launcher, if you right click on the dock icon and select "Dock Icon Properties" You can make it bring windows to the front but selecting "Same Instance"

If you can find Yz Shadow, you can use that to add OSX style window shadows as well.
