For those uf us that use PC's as well as Mac, I thought I would start a crash log. Whenever we get a bit frustrated with Apple, or with our Macs, we can look here to see the rediculousness of the Winblows world. (might be a good way to check how XP really stands up to OS X, too).

I started this thread because Exploder gave me the BSOD as I tried to post this thread the first time. So this is take two.

I guess that makes 1 crash. Many more to go. ;)

lastnight

Last night I installed a free DVD player on my Win2000 Laptop (belongs to my CO.) When I ran it, it the window shook like it was a crack baby then it crashed the system. When I went to uninstall it, it said that some of they system files had been replaced with 3rd party files and if I remove them, the OS would have problems. The only way to fix this is to insert the Win2000 SP2 CD that I don't have and re-replace the system files. Dam windows!

a few weeks ago. AT work I was forced to move to a Microsoft exchange server for mail. After the switch it took about 1hr to load the system (updating security settings). Everything was fine untill the next day when I tried to log in again. The system crashed at login or just ran forever. I had to hold down some keys at boot and use the "use last working login" to get into my machine. I then left my desktop running for several weeks untill my work gave me a laptop (they ordered me a laptop to traid in my desktop the same week). Now my lap top works fine exept for my above complaint.

dam windows again!

I had a nice BSOD on my Win2000Pro PC at work this morning, for no reason what so ever!
"IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL"
FFS!!! What a load of crap!

I would share my Win98SE installation experience, but I think there must be some sort of character limit on these posts, and I don't think I would be able to come in under it...

Nice thread if all of us here had a windows machine and posted everytime it crashed this thread would pass the shortfilms thread by the weekend.

PC, XP: today explorer crashed for seemingly no apparent reason, although it had been idling for several hours before with an unstabile program running in the background (which has caused crashes before). lost 10 minutes of homework. did not need restart.

mac, dual 500 G4, OS X.1.5: yesterday the finder stopped responding completely after successfully force quitting photoshop 7. lost 15 to 20 minutes of file-opening time (lots of big docs). restart needed....booted into OS 9.2.2 to get the work done.

mac, lombard G3, OS 9.2.2: woke it up from sleep with PS7 open along with a hundered or so 2-4 megs docs, PS7, finder 'unexpectedly quit.' restart not required, got through all photoshop docs without a hitch and then restarted just in case. lost no time.

so we just post here every time our PC crashes, eh? well, i haven't touched my PC since i got my TiBook, but my TiBook has froze twice. i'm sure when i get more RAM that'll fix the problem. but apart from that, it has been good.
