Wine and Beer Enthusiasts

I wish I had snapped a photo of the wine card yesterday, after a really tough week felt in the mood for some wine rather than the usual pint so sat myself here:

Tour du Molard

Local landmakr and now wine and shisha bar. No shisha but a coupel of glasses of local pinot noir from a Genevan vineyard. Really nice but not something to do often. Beer is a better value in this expensive town, wine should be bought and shared/stored by the bottle for home or going out.

Very pleasant red, local wine has vastly improved in the two decades I've been here. Wine from the Valais canton and also Vaud were always excellent just not much known outside Switzerland.

Fascinating.

Actually, while I am familiar with Austrian wine, French wine, Italian wine (including several of the wines from the Südtirol/Alto Adige region), and - of course - with German wines, I have never seen, let alone sampled, a wine from Switzerland.

Ahhhh... There was one or two of theirs that were labeled dark, but had a tint of red to it, which lead me to believe there might be some fruit notes.

The ones that I have been able to try from them are really good!

You might be thinking of the "Cherry Chouffe", a Belgian beer that has been made from (among other ingredients), fruit, in this case, cherry.

Anyway, any of the beers that I have tasted from the Achouffe Brewery have been very good.

Médoc, Margaux, et alia are delicious of course, but I've always had a preference for right bank bordelais wines. Saint Estèphe, Pomerol....merlot, cabernet franc. I spent some time in Bordeaux a few months ago, and it solidified my love for the wines of the right bank...

For those in the area... The Bruery's Black Tuesday drops on the 29th this year! Will be picking up a bottle or two this year! Not to mention, it is the 10 year anniversary so it looks like they are doing a couple different styles this year.

Happiness, bliss, drool...it would not be an exaggeration to suggest that I am weak at the knees with envy; I hope you had a brilliant time.
