I am using this tutorial http://www.funkyspacemonkey.com/howto-check-iphones-bootloader-version-downgrade but when I go to enter the commands it says "CHMOD cannot access BBupdaterextreme no such file or directory"

Lol That would help. Install fuzzyband from cydia and it will check your bootloader if you're trying to downgrade a 3G to an unlocked baseband.
