Winter board to edit carrier name?

I have downloaded 2 carrier edit programs and nothing worked for me. I was wondering do I need spring board and also does something like that suck up battery life?

The way I did it was SSH'd into my iPhone and made a back up of the current carrier logo and replaced it with whatever I liked.

One of the best tweaks ever made. You can toggle all your settings with a single swipe from the status bar. Youtube SBSettings for some videos of how it works.

O yea ive seen that in the market. So the SBS settings allows you to change carrier name then.

I got it. This shouldnt really mess with the battery life at all right? Looks like sbsettings is taking a toll on it in general it may just be my imagination.
