Winterboard?

Is Winterboard bad to use? Does it cause a decrease in battery life and speed? I have been SSHing into my phone and changing the icons, but it does seem to be taking a while. I am also dreading the thought of having to restore. What are your thoughts on Winterboard?

Does it's job well for me, no problems here what so ever.

I use Winterboard for theming as it makes administration and reapplication (especially after a restore) much easier. I have not noticed any hit to battery life.
