Im selling my 08 Macbook. Can I wipe my user info without wiping the entire drive and reinstalling osx? It it pretty much a new setup, but I used my name in the finder winder because i used it to setup the mac and install updates. I do not want my name anywhere on the system but I do not want to wipe the hard drive because it is already setup for the new user.
Is this possible?

Yes. Just create a new user account named "Owner" with administrator access, and then just delete your old account from the account you just created. Bam, your name is gone.

If you're selling it to a stranger then I would reformat and write over the drive at least once with 0s so I know they can't recover my stuff.

OK, I just did that. When I log in as the new user, Microsoft office is not in there.... How do I get it back/?
