I was on El Capitan, though I was having problems with my MBP so I reluctantly upgraded to High Sierra. The problems persisted so I took it into the Apple store and they sent it for repairs. Now that I have it back I booted into Disk Utility to erase the drive, I rebooted by holding down Command + R and choose to reinstall OS and it tried to install El Capitan, though when I get to the screen where it asks which drive to install it to it never gives me an option so I can’t move forward. I tried restarting by holding down option + command + R to just reinstall the latest OS available, and when it boots it gives me a circle with a line through it. I cut the power to it and when I turn it back on it immediately goes to the circle with the line through it.

How can I get some version of an OS back on the Mac?

Thanks in advance!

What year is the MacBook Pro?

If you can't get into "internet recovery", then I can think of 2 things:
1. Take it back to the Apple Store, let them re-install the OS for you and THIS TIME DON'T ERASE WHAT THEY PUT ON IT.
or
2. Go to ebay. There are sellers there who will sell you a USB flashdrive with the OS installer of your choice pre-installed on it. Will cost you about $20. I'd suggest you request OS 10.12, "Low Sierra". Or, try El Cap.

If you go the USB flashdrive route, you'll need to:
a. Boot from the flashdrive
b. Open Disk Utility
c. ERASE the internal drive to Mac OS extended with journaling enabled, GUID partition format
d. Open the installer then re-install the OS.

Knowing the year and model would really help here. It's odd this is happening when you just got the machine back. Anyhow, if we can determine this isn't a hardware problem, we can get you rolled back to whatever compatible version you want.
