I've got quite an old Magic Mouse that came with my mid-2010 iMac but it can drive me up the wall when the batteries die - I use rechargeable batteries but they seem to be useless, either not staying charged and ready for replacement or not charging at all - I think that's a combination of the batteries and the charger.

I think I'd just like a wired mouse but I'm not sure if there is one available that is as good as the Magic Mouse and has all the same features, mainly swiping up, down, left and right.

Is there a good option or do I need to get a new wireless Magic Mouse or a new set of rechargeable batteries and charger?

Many thanks.

I'm not aware of any good wired mice like the Magic Mouse, so I'll leave that up to others to answer.

I would say it might be worth considering the Magic Mouse 2 though. I have one and it lasts me several weeks between charges, and charges fairly quick when you forget. Just the other morning I got a warning that the battery level was low. I plugged it in, went to the restroom, came back and was good for the rest of the day after a five minute charge. (Of course I plugged it in again at the end of the day to fully charge it.)

Or if you don't want to get a new mouse, it sounds like maybe you just need a new set of batteries if they aren't lasting as long as they used to.

My respect to those who can comfortably use Apple's Magic Mouse. I've tried so hard and so many times to do so. I want to use, but cannot.
When I bought my first Mac I was convinced to switch over completely to Apples stuff. The mouse was delivered with the iMac so I used it for half a year until the batteries (it was 2013) ran dry. I had no batteries available so I switched to a Logitech mouse my wife had laying around. Never touched the Magic Mouse again after that 😂

After a year of daily usage i've accustomed to it. Now I know that it is the best mouse for macos because of touch swipes and scrolling. Hopefully the new one will get side buttons eventually
