I need your help, i am out of my dept

I have 2 wired keyboards (apple), one came with mac pro, the other i bought for my pc.

They won't work, on my retina, mac pro, windows pc, nothing.

    I have tried:

    - Extension cords (1 original from apple, 1 generic)
    - Reseting SMC
    - Reseting Pram
    - Tried 2 apple keyboards (imac g4 and imac late 2006) - they work just fine.

I was ready to put them on the recycle bin but remembered to check if they are recognized by the computers - and they are (see attachment)

    I am on your hands....

Did you use a regular extension cord or the apple-provided extension cord with the notch in it?

I have 2 wired keyboards that have the exact same issue. Placing a notched extension cord between fixes it for me.

Can you borrow or buy just a cheap USB keyboard made for a PC just to try it? I could see one KB being bad, but two seems fishy

    Yes, very fishy indeed.

I don't have a pc usb keyboard but i have tried with 2 usb keyboards (imac g4 and imac late 2006), both from apple and they work just fine...

I have a similar problem. I upgraded to el capitan and some of my keys on the wired aluminium apple keyboard have stopped working. I too have tried everything. I am reluctant to buy another keyboard, since I believe it is a software problem.
