wireless bluetooth keyboard not pairing

Hi everyone,

had my macbook in for repair a few days ago, so prior to that I wiped it and restored everything afterwards with time machine.

just id a bluetooth firmware update as well, but for some reason it fails to connect to my wireless keyboard. no trouble with the wireless mouse.

I get this message:



then I enter a password, it says 'finalizing pairing' but then the window disappears and nothing happens 🙁
