I’m done with wireless charging, I’ve been using since I first got my iPhone but the last month my phone gets so hot it stops charging and I can barely pick the phone up and these are nice wireless chargers too.

When I tether charge it’s no problem, really pisses me off...So tired of paying premium prices for junk hardware made in China getting sick of it...

At these prices Apple should’ve made a factory here in the USA to see if we can get better quality, they’ve gotten so greedy I need to start looking at alternate solutions and get my head out of the sand

I’ve been using nothing but Apple now for the last four years, not even sure if I know how to do android anymore it’s been so long, I was with Nokia unlocked before that.

I’m really becoming disenchanted with Apple at least I’m glad I set my new iPad back to get a full refund

If Apple ever decides to release the Airpower, I might consider wireless charging, but for now, I don’t necessarily find it a ‘Must’, when I prefer to charge my devices while I am using it anyways.

I’ve been using an Anker Powerwave 7.5w wireless charger for the last 6 months and my battery capacity is 97% after 11 months(12 in mid-December). It wasn’t a cheap purchase but, I’m extremely happy with it...

I only charge mine wirelessly. Been doing it for eleven months and no issues. I have a Speck Presidio case on my X, and an Anker 5W wireless charger. I put it on the charger overnight. It’s never hot when I take it off the charger. Maybe a tad warm sometimes. It’s not a fast charger, so maybe that’s why?

I suspect you either have a bad charger or a problem with your iPhone.

I’ve been using (2) Belkin 5w chargers for iPhone X with no problems till few months ago or less. I’ve never cared about price just want quality for my $. The heat coming from this phone is incredible, lucky didn’t blow up.

Yes, doing heat thing with both charges, I hate using tether now, what chargers will not do this if it isn’t problem with phone?

Life proof case

Why is nobody suggesting the obvious? Phone Apple support, they will be the best equipped to determine if it is the charger or an issue with the phone. Everything else is just speculation. Even if you are off warranty they will probably still provide general information for free.

Maybe a case on the phone is causing the problem. Never had a problem with wireless charging with both my X and now my Max.

Life proof case

Is that the waterproof one? Wireless charging is converting electrical energy to electromagnetic energy and back to electrical energy. Through all these processes some energy is lost to heat energy which on a charger may have a heatsink or a fan to dissipate the heat, but on the phone will depend on airflow. If you use a sealed up case perhaps that's the problem.

Think of a greenhouse and how it's much hotter in one than the outside.

No it’s the SLAM case, only for drops, not enclosed or waterproof, by the way it’s a great case

I use the mophie wireless charger for my iPhone X every night. No problems at all. I felt like it was the best quality charger of all the ones I looked at.

I’ve been using the Belkin 7.5 W charger for my max which I’ve had for about 2 months and I’m not having any issues. I had a spigen wireless charger that I used with my X briefly but the placement annoyed me so I stopped using it after a few weeks.

While I agree, Apple can’t comment on a Belkin wireless charger, because that’s not there specific OEM equipment. They (Apple) can only commkent on the phone and even in this circumstance, I really don’t know what information they can provide them given they don’t know all the circumstances without physically seeing the phone in person/testing any diagnostics with the battery, etc .

I used the same Morphie wireless charger, from Apple, for a year on my X and it never got even warm. After a year the X battery still showed 100% battery health.

Try removing your case and if it still get hot, take it to Apple.

I’ve used a Samsung wireless charger for my x the whole time I had it, and use it currently for my xs max. Phone will get warm sometimes but not bad. Fiancé uses the same wireless charger for her x and has for a year. A friend of mine and his wife use the same chargers for their x and 8 plus, and they haven’t had any issues. Maybe it’s the charger? Or maybe something is up with the phone? I would try as suggested....remove the case and see if it still happens...if it does maybe try a different wireless charger.

This is the Samsung charger we all use. Amazon has it on sale right now for $26, originally $50.

The only time I've had any heat was from the charger itself. When I put my phone very crookedly on a wireless charger and then came back to see my phone (normal temperature) but the charger itself was burning hot. I corrected the placement of my phone on the wireless charger and the heat went away and phone charged.

I use wireless chargers all the time … At work, at home. Kinda nice not having to plug a cable into my phone.
