Wireless charging

I just got a wireless charger for the wife's X and am wondering when I set the phone on it, it doesn't show the animation that was shown in the keynote of the phone spinning on the screen and showing the battery charging status. is this only with the Apple charging pad?

My Avalon has built in wireless charger……but it doesn’t work very well.
