    Hi guys,

Wondered if you could help. My iMac core 2 duo 2.0Ghz has recently started dropping internet connection. I can turn it on and after like a few minutes the internet stops working. I run network diagnostics and just as I get to the end of the troubleshooter wizard it comes back on again. It seems like it stops working also when I stop using it e.g. start typing a word document.

I recently changed ISP and with it got a new wireless modem/router and this internet problem has only started since I had this. However I have a MB and MB Pro which run the internet absolutely fine.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

Try creating a new connection. Also try changing the router to channel 11, I've hear this sometimes fixes issues. Also, if you have a wireless N router, sometimes dropping it down to b/g only helps. I had a similar issue and resolved it with various combos of the above.

Thank you for those suggestions, it is an N router. How would I change the router to channel 11? Would it be in the settings?

    Thanks

Does changing the channel change anything to the speed of the network? What does it change?

Kinda the same idea as the old cordless phones you had to change the channel to get better reception.

Tried changing the channel but doesn't work. It's like I stop surfing the net for 2 mins and the internet connection goes. Then I have to run network diagnostics again to get it working.

It seems to retain connection better when I'm downloading something so it seems to be when its not being used.

    Thanks

That's strange. Wish I had more "ideas" for you. Maybe try a new router? I don't know if there are any tools that can do diagnostics on wireless hardware, but I'm sure someone on here would know.
