I recently bought a D-link dwa-140 so i could have wireless internet for my desktop that does not have an airport card

it was working last night but now all i get is a self-assigned ip and have to go back to using my laptop as an expensive router for my desktop via internet sharing over ethernet

the wireless router i have is the linksys WRT54GS

anyone know how to resolve this? i tried copy and pasting the ethernet ip,subnet, router and dns server info that i obtain on my desktop when i share the internet from my mb into the d-link settings but it wont work. i have also tried resetting the router and modem, replugging in cables but to no avail

kind of frustrating so any advice would be great

Hi, the first thing I would try is reseting your router and whatever you have feeding it, i.e. cable modem, dsl, ect. That should cause it to clear the current IPs and re-assign them, assuming you are using DHCP to hand out your IPs in stead of manually assigning them. By the way, what OS are you running, Tiger, Leopard, ect.?

Edit: oops, sorry, just saw that you already tried the reset.
