wireless keyboard - keys not working on left hand side

My Apple wireless keyboard is about three years old and I found this morning that the keys on the left hand side aren't working...anything to the right of T is ok though...

Do you know what might be causing this? I have tried re-establishing the BT connection and replacing batteries - I'm using a mac mini with 10.4.8.

Is this the beginning of the end of the keyboard? Or can it be resurrected?
