Hi there,

I have one of the original - non 3G - iPhones, running OS 3.1.3.

Ever since about a year ago the WiFi no longer works. I can see networks, and it will connect occasionally, but as soon as I try to do anything such as browse the internet or download songs the WiFi connection drops off.

The following error appears again and again in the logs in XCode organise console for the device:

Code:
Unknown configd[22] <Error>: WiFi:[289498283.325497]: Error initiating scan request: 35

Any ideas on how to fix this would be very much appreciated :)

Thanks
Matt

I would think your wifi antenna has gone bad.

If you'd like, you can test whether this is a hardware issue by doing the freezer test. Place the iPhone in one ziplock bag and place that inside another ziplock. Make sure as much air is out as possible. Then place this inside a freezer for 10 minutes or so. After, immediately try your wifi. If it works, then you know it is hardware. Once it warms up it'll stop working. If it doesn't work after the freezer test it could still be hardware, but a positive on this test ensures you do have a hardware failure.
