hi there, on my new second hand ibook the wireless is really poor, 50% of the time it cant even find it, im using a bt homehub which on the pc it can run at about 6mb/s but the mac runs below 1 although last night it strangly went up to 5 for a miniute or two, i have tried making sure the airport card is in properly and the connector i assume is the ariel?? seems to not plug in very well? a little loose ? do i need a new aiport card??

just noticed

when i finally manage to get it connected the signal level is on the highest then within seconds its down to the very bottom again

I'm not sure what kind of wifi spec you're running (a/b/g), but 6mbps suggests fairly poor signal for that PC as well. B spec is 11mbps and g is 54mbps, and I've never had a computer report under the max in either my parents' house or my apartment even when one floor under the router and across the house.

The iBook being older may have a weaker antenna than the PC, so that's that I'd imagine.
