I have a 2014 MacBook Pro running Big Sur that I'm trying to wake up with my 2020 MacBook Pro but it's not working either in sleep mode or shut down. Both are on the same wifi network, both have wake for network access unlocked.
I'm using wakeonlan that I downloaded using home-brew and using variations of codes as such wakeonlan 34:31:3b:c4:xx:xx and wakeonlan -i 10.0.0.255 -p 9 34:31:3b:c4:xx:xx (Idk what p which is the destination port is). I've triple check the Mac addresses and tried the ethernet & wireless wifi MAC address to see if it would help. I did try some of the free apps on the apple App Store and none of them worked either
If I could get more of an explanation on what the destination port is in this case and possibly why I can't get my intel Mac to turn on that would be a tremendous help. Please me know what else is worth a try.
